Revenue of the Colony are self-evident, but it may not be amiss to point
out the benefits which would accrue during the whole period of construct-
-ing the Dock, by the large influx of Chinese which such important work
would entail.
Not less than 2.000 would be required I estimate, and
for these accommodation would have to be found, thus giving a great impetus
to house building in the lunghon district.
I have mentioned my project, in strict confidence, to Admiral Sir
Cyprian Bridge who thinks well of it, & has kindly consented to bring it
before the Admiralty, and I hope, Sir, that you too may represent it in
the necessary quarter and give it your support.
His Excellency,
SIR HENRY BLAKE, G.G.M.G.
etc.
etc.
Yours very truly,
